Joshua 1:1-9
Joshua Installed as Leader
1 After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, the Lord said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ aide: 2 “Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them—to the Israelites. 3 I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses. 4 Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates—all the Hittite country—to the Mediterranean Sea in the west. 5 No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. 6 Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.
7 “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
RAISING UP A LEADER
I see how Moses needed someone to follow in his footsteps after his death. God had a plan and raised up Joshua. Have you ever thought about the person you looked up too will not be here someday. So will you step up and be a positive Christian example to others? Others watch you and need you to stand firm on the word of God and live it. Maybe you are already a leader, good job.
I looked back to see my 32 year old self. Angry and mad at God for not healing my brother from cancer or did he? My brother went to Heaven at 37 years old. He was no longer in pain. It took me a year to get through the process of not understanding God’s will and angry. That was a long time of not having peace inside of me.
Little did I know that this experience would help me minister to younger people when I got older. I watched older women pray and seek God. As they explained it, I grew in knowledge. I didn’t know there was a leader in me but here I am today 68 and I have so many stories of victory. I can also answer some whys of my life.
Each of our steps are ordered by God but needs your yes. Your own free will moving into God’s plan is needed in the right direction. Yet, God uses our mess ups too. Purpose time to read the Bible and pray for God to send people in your path that will teach you and you can teach others. Be strong and courageous too.
