Matthew 7:24-27
Build Your House on the Rock
24 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.
26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.
27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
A story;
My 3 year old granddaughter Brookley, was in her Sunday class at church. She began to tell me about Roxanne. I remember saying, oh you met a new friend? She said no. She used hand motions to tell me how the rains came and winds blew! Then I realized she was telling me the rock and sand story. My heart was thrilled to know she listen and told the story with hand motions. You never know what kids retain hearing a story.
I have seen the importance of building your life on Jesus. Becoming firm with the word and learning scriptures to quote. Life brings us all storms that sway our lives. I often think of how my umbrella blew inside out during a storm. I umbrella became useless. Winds can change our lives as well.
Be like the wise man and build your life with scriptures of hope,, faith and dedication to God. The rock in scripture is God.
I know people who think they don’t need God. I used to be one of those who thought God did not answer my prayer. I didn’t understand that God has a time for all things. I needed to learn to trust God through all things. Prayer changes you which changes the outlook on things. God drew me by his spirit and I gave my heart to him.
Be sure to build your life on the rock!
Blessings, Sparkie
