Matthew 18:10-14
The Parable of the Lost Sheep
10 “See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven.
12 What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray?
13 And if he finds it, truly, I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that never went astray. 14 So it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.
CARES ~ about the one sheep
Let’s compare this thought to humans. Humans get hurt inside the church. Some are judged wrongly and leaves a big whole. Who will go after the one? You? Me?
There was a time when I got hurt by words of people who went to church. I was young and didn’t understand the death of my brother. It was Christmas Day and He was 37 and I want 32. He was in the hospital and a call came to get there soon. He had cancer. Church leadership came and the words were wanting to go home to see their families on Christmas. Words were, I hope he dies soon and I heard that. I told them to go home! I understood that but it still hurt me. I was hurt that God didn’t take the cancer away.
Life went on and I stopped going to church for almost one year. Then Terry asked me to try a new church in Vallejo. We went and people showed kindness. Words of the pastor and his wife made me want to go back. It was a new beginning by words and God’s power. Putting trust in Jesus again.
Point, you just never know where someone has been in life. Watching ours words and actions.
